Recordings from any device

Phone recorder apps: iPhone Voice Memos saves M4A files, and most Android recorder apps save M4A or MP3. Share or export the recording to your files, or send it to your computer.

Digital voice recorders and dictaphones usually save MP3 or WAV. Connect the recorder to your computer with its USB cable and copy the file from it.

Computer recordings: the Windows Sound Recorder, QuickTime on a Mac and most recording software save files you can upload as they are.

How to transcribe a voice recording

  1. 1Get the recording onto the phone or computer you're using now.
  2. 2Drop it into the upload box above. If you know the language, choose it; otherwise it's detected automatically.
  3. 3In a few minutes, read the transcript in paragraphs, search it, click a line to hear that moment, or download it as Word, TXT or subtitles.

Tips for an accurate transcript

Record close to the person speaking, in a quiet room, and avoid people talking over each other. Speech recognition copes with accents and fast talk, but background noise and crosstalk cost the most accuracy.

How it works

From recording to text in three steps

  1. 1

    Upload

Drop in any audio or video file. The audio track is extracted in your browser, so even large videos upload quickly.

  2. 2

    Transcribe

Our AI transcriber turns the speech into text with timestamps and groups it into readable paragraphs. You can close the tab while it works.

  3. 3

    Use it

Copy the text, search it, or download it as a Word document, TXT, SRT or VTT. The audio is deleted once the transcript is ready.

The result

A clean transcript, not a wall of words

Read it as paragraphs or line by line with timestamps. Search inside it, copy it, or download subtitles in one click.

  • Readable paragraphs

Sentences are grouped into paragraphs you can paste straight into notes or a blog post.

  • Subtitles ready to upload

SRT and VTT files with accurate timing for YouTube, Premiere, CapCut and more.

  • Find any moment

Search the transcript and jump to the timestamp you need.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can't find an answer? Email us.

Can I record directly on this website?

Not yet. Record with your phone or computer's recorder app, then upload the file here.

Is it free?

Your first recording needs no sign-up. After that, sign in with your email or Google for 3 free files a day of up to 30 minutes each, with no credit card. Longer recordings get their first 30 minutes free.

How accurate is the transcription?

We use state-of-the-art AI speech recognition. Clear recordings typically come out near-verbatim; heavy background noise, people talking over each other and very strong accents reduce accuracy.

What happens to my files?

Audio is converted in your browser, uploaded only to transcribe it, and deleted as soon as the transcript is ready. You can delete transcripts at any time.

How long can a file be?

Free files can be up to 30 minutes. Paid plans support files up to 10 hours each.

What's the difference between pay-as-you-go and Unlimited?

Pay-as-you-go credits are a one-time purchase that never expires — good for occasional long files. Unlimited is a subscription with no daily file limit, subject to fair use of 100 hours per 30 days.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Manage or cancel your subscription from your account page; you keep access until the end of the paid period.
